06 Jul The Silverstone Circuit
In less than two months Project FUZE will be unleashed upon the Silverstone race during the Formula Student 2017 competition. Before we go and test the waters we will need to get to know the track!
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England next to the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. The circuit straddles the Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border, with the current main circuit entry on the Buckinghamshire side. The end of the Second World War had left Britain with no major race track but an abundance of airfields. One of these surplus airfields was located outside the village of Silverstone and being roughly in the middle of England was seen as an ideal location to bring back international motor racing to Britain.
Many years later the track has become a British icon and hosts a plethora of motorsport events like Formula 1 and MotoGP. Currently the track consists of 20 corners, is 5.8 km long and has a room for 150.000 cheering fans!
The Project FUZE race team can’t wait to finally brave the circuit and be the first one to cross the finish line! Stay tuned because we will soon be announcing the unveiling event at Highlite. Next week we will be giving out more information about the event and what you can expect!
